Following a detailed investigation of said rocks, Johnson and Wing found that oxygen-18 isotopes were located at a surprisingly heightened level within the Pilbara rocks. So, what does that mean? Despite the weighty quality being sucked up by clay and soil-heavy environments, this did not seem to occur in Pilbara!

Although the differences between the pair’s predicted oxygen-18 results and the actual ones found were quite small, they are still important. Wing said to Sci-News.com in March 2020 that although these differences are tiny, such isotopes are “super-sensitive.” Confronted with such odd levels, the scientists landed on a novel conclusion.
