A mixture of clay and soil creates the earth which we stand on, with lessened amounts of the weightier oxygen-18 showing the appearance of land. Wing then described how one can learn the amount of soil formation which transpired through this process. With Pilbara’s ancient rocks abound, the duo was committed to testing samples of this earth, looking at the pair of oxygen types. What they uncovered is completely fascinating.

At the end of their work, Johnson and Wing had tested more than one hundred rock samples taken out of Pilbara’s Panorama area. Although their tests should have shown the oxygen-16 and 18 levels, with steady amounts of the isotopes present within the eras, such results ultimately showed completely irregular results. The researcher’s findings shook our understanding of the physical world, and maybe even the religious one too!
