Anne Was Friendly With Henrys Following Spouse
Catherine Howard would be the next woman that Henry would marry, on July 28, 1540 – which just so happened to be the same date where poor Thomas Cromwell was beheaded. Mary would not be very fond of the new woman in her father’s life, however. She would be vocal about her disapproval, and it was apparent that she preferred Anne. It is incredible how such a short and unsuccessful marriage could leave such a lasting impression.

Anne Was Friendly With Henrys Following Spouse
Incredibly, Catherine was in Anne’s most intimate circle, being among the ladies-in-waiting. It was through this connection that Henry supposedly became cozy with the latest queen. You might assume that this new romantic development between Anne’s ex-husband and her former lady-in-waiting would have caused bad blood between Anne and Catherine, but this was not the case. Anne would be gracious enough to gift the new couple with a pair of velvet draped horses. The two women in question would have a calm and friendly first meeting, too.
Henrys Childishness Persisted
Anne’s goodwill and generosity would not go on unrewarded. When Anne visited Hampton Court in January 1541, the German woman was beckoned to carry on reveling through the night alongside Catherine. Anne would also remain long enough to enjoy a meal with her ex-husband and his new wife. It was there that Catherine apparently gifted Anne a pair of treasures, a ring from Henry, and a couple of hounds. Things were going swimmingly, it seemed.

Henrys Childishness Persisted
Anne was oblivious to the true nature of these gifts, however, and one of them would be taken off her hands before long. A few months passed before Catherine was accused of extramarital affairs and was facing the gallows for supposed treason. Of course, cheating on the king was considered a traitorous affair. Anne would also get a lick of Henry’s lash-like tongue, or fingers, rather, when she received a letter demanding that she return the ring he had given her.
