Following the sinking of a passenger ship in the area, one thousand people took sanctuary on North Brother Island, which is situated in The Bronx in the borough of New York City. Later on, it was converted into a hospital for patients suffering from infectious illnesses. However, the building is currently vacant and serves as a refuge for birds.

Although the Bhangarh Fort is accessible to the public throughout the day, access to the fort is restricted from the hours of dusk to dawn. According to the residents of the area, everybody who has ever tried to come after dark has inexplicably vanished. Thus, no one knows what happens if you do try to visit after dark.
