Poveglia Island, Italy
Poveglia Island in Italy is the ideal setting for people who like frightening tales; however, the island is off-limits to visitors, so you’ll have to make do with only listening to tales about it instead of going there for yourself. Throughout the course of history, the island served as a quarantine facility for tens of thousands of plague sufferers. Subsequently, it was turned into a mental health facility. Since then, access to the general public has been denied, and it was done so for a very good cause.
Uluru Rock, Australia
Since October 2019, the members of the Anangu tribe have requested that visitors refrain from climbing on this peculiar-looking sandstone monolith owing to the erosion it was creating. In the past, travelers were permitted to climb on it, but now they are not allowed to do so. And although it’s true that you can’t scale Uluru anymore, it doesn’t mean you can’t still go see it!
