As the rumors went, Michelle Phillips was apparently being unfaithful to her husband through an affair with John Phillips, a fellow bandmate. When the band finally went under, other evidence surfaced fingering a Rolling Stones member. Cass Elliott’s budding solo career was blossoming when Phillips decided to play the fool while they were all in the company of Mick Jagger. He began discussing his arrest, when Elliott cut in and silenced him. Then there was the ensuing lawsuit between the record label and the band, which ended with them splitting up.
The Creedence Clearwater Revival Brothers Went Their Separate Ways
Few bands are considered to encapsulate the spirit of the 60s stronger than Creedence Clearwater Revival, a spirit that would end once the decade came to a close. Tom Fogerty was the guitarist of the band who would end up leaving in 1971, when his brother, John Fogerty, the bandleader, would decide that it was his time to take lead. His control would lead to a series of awful albums and insane business decisions that would lead to John exiting in just a year following his brother. One of John’s most alarming moves was to replace his actual band members with session musicians when Creedence Clearwater Revival was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
