We have to start this list with the hero of the movie, of course, with Casper Van Dien, who played the hunky Johnny Rico. He was brave, he was brawny, and most of all, he killed a lot of evil bugs. Rico’s appeal was his traditional, all-American personality and good looks, as well as his fearless fighting skills. It’s almost like Paul Verhoeven, the film’s director, was trying to parody the stereotypical American action movie hero. That’s not to say that Rico was not a lovable character on his own!
