The dog was popularly known in the Southern Forest World as the mummified dog up until 2002. It stood in the center of the museum and was a standout from the other lumber species like oak, cypress, and pine.
To date, it plays an integral role in the museum’s existence as it is an ambassador for the museum as well as it is the base image used for postcards and promotional materials.
