Naturally-Formed Half Rock
Well, if you know Thor, then we could agree that only his hammer could actually crack the rock of this magnitude. Tokangawhā or more popularly known as Split Apple Rock, is located off New Zealand’s coast. Interestingly, the rock was naturally formed this way, so Thor’s hammer was not used here for those seeking a fairytale outcome. The split in this rock was caused due to a joint in the granite rock, and with the joints being generally weak, the wind and waves from the sea can slowly deteriorate the strength of the rock. Years of weather and natural condition can cause a beauty like this to unfold.
The Mark Twain Tree – A Beauty Of Nature
This beautiful tree is nicknamed the Mark Twain Tree and is cut from a large sequoia found in the Kings Canyon Park in California. Interestingly, this tree was cut down in 1891, with the stump being cut off and sent worldwide in a bid to educate others that trees this big do exist.
This particular slice was sent to the American Museum of Natural History in New York, where it has been preserved over many years. The rings on this tree stump clearly indicate that this tree did exist as far back as 550 AD.
