Religious Mind Games
Genghis Khan was so skilled at the art of war, that he often sent rival religious groups out into the battlefield to increase tensions and hostility. This typically meant that rival soldiers became more emotionally charged, which often led to them getting distracted during battle. In this way, pre-existing tensions were used for him to weaken his enemies at every single possible opportunity along the way. This strategy is common in religious tensions to this very day.

The Mongol army only had individual soldiers that were skilled in moving very quickly. Agility was a highly valued trait in all soldiers, and those that couldn’t meet Khan’s acceptable standards were sent to training camps, or simply berated for their laziness. These days, agility is not as important as it was before, now that technologies can make striking and retreating a lot easier. In the past, this wasn’t the case and other methods were required.
