Working Together
The army was often split into small groups or platoons, and soldiers were trained to be able to work as a team. Uniting as one force was a primary rule that Genghis Khan enforced on the army, in order to make sure that battlefield losses could be minimized. This principle is still key to warfare to this very day, and ununited soldiers typically struggle to overcome their challenges, especially against a more secure enemy with cohesive groups.

Learning About Flanking
Every Mongol soldier was educated to understand what the flanking movement was, and told about its importance when it comes to the battlefield. This involved avoiding the center of rival armies, in a bid to take charge of the battle from outside angles instead. Doing so often confused their enemies a great deal, and allowed Khan to reassess strategies with platoons that we’re performing up to his nearly every high and nearly impossible standards at times.
