Sofia Coppola as Mary Corleone in The Godfather III
We can all agree that the first two releases of the Godfather film series were amazing and deserve an award. However, the third release was a total disaster and took the life and energy from the film’s freshness. The storyline was altered, and the cast didn’t make things any better as it was evidently linked to Hollywood’s nepotism. Sofia Coppola, daughter of the director, Francis Ford Coppola, was one of the worst-case in the film but was killed off by the third act.
Sofia didn’t do well as an actress, but she sure turned out to be a great director and screenwriter. We think each time Sofia watched the film and assessed how she acted, she wished she had passed up on the offer of being in the film. Every too often, we see series films releasing great first and second episodes, but as soon as it reaches a new level, the directors and producers make a mess of it.
Kevin Costner as Robin Hood in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
Kevin Costner has many great acting roles that he has done great service to, but the way the producers put him in this film – dressed in tights – made it a bad choice for the famed actor. After his performance in “Dances With Wolves,” which earned him numerous awards, it was rather difficult to accept Costner as a non-English, long-haired figure easily. This film’s act seemed to be a combination of his character as Elliot Ness from “The Untouchables” and Crash Davis from “Bull Durham.” However, to make a point – he was just trying to act in these films.
Robin Hood’s release: Prince of Thieves was supposed to be a major hit, but instead, it was a big flop and didn’t get much attention. To make matters worse, they added Costner in a major part of the film – one of England’s legendary mythical figures. It was a flop and not accepted by many.
