Jessica Simpson as Daisy Duke in Dukes of Hazzard
Jessica knows how to hold her own when it comes to a lot of roles but to see a pop star in a lead role is almost like a disaster waiting to happen. We know Simpson to be a great singer, knows how to control her stage presence, and is an excellent songwriter. However, acting doesn’t seem to be her calling especially while she was filming Dukes of Hazzard. It was an awkward performance that gave her acting skills a low rating.
The film could have been a major success only if they went for less popular acts who could actually do a great job. Director Seann William Scott made a terrible decision to add so many non-actors and non-actresses in the film. Besides Jessica, he also added Johnny Knoxville to the lineup. So much for wanting to have popular figures in your film but not realizing they cannot get the job done effectively.
Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne in Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice
Dawn of Justice is making its second appearance on this list, and it is yet for another bad call. This time around, they added Ben Affleck for Batman’s role, and even though he has tried other superhero roles before, that genre is not a success for him. This poor result ended up being another negative effect on Ben’s acting career, and his desire to shine as a superhero came off more as sad and pouty compared to brave and bedeviled.
To make matters worse, as time went by, Affleck was given two roles to direct the film – this was okayish, and to act in the lead role – now this was a disaster! The roles had to change later and shift to other industry greats, with Robert Pattison copping the lead role in the film, and Matt Reeves sitting in the director’s seat.
