Blood Transfusions
Where would we be if blood transfusions were not possible in most hospitals around the country? These can literally save lives, and are an important component of medical practices to this very day. During WWI, many doctors had to try different methods in order to save as many lives as they could. A man named Lieutenant Robinson was responsible for the first successful blood transfusion, and not long after, banks were set up to mimic what he did and save lives elsewhere in the process.
Jet Engines And Technologies
Originally, the patent for the jet engine was first registered at the start of the 1930’s. As with so many other inventions on our list, it was only during the second world war that it became more heavily used. This in turn led to more countries adopting the technology, in an attempt to catch up with the United States. These days, it’s almost unfathomable to think of a national military without a fleet of jets. The technologies behind the jet are also used in commercial aviation around the world.
