Facts about Missing Children
When a child is missing, the information of the child is required to be entered in the FBI’s National Crime Information Center by federal law. On the other side, according to data shared by the FBI, in the year 2019, 421,394 children were marked missing in the system, while in the year 2018 the numbers have been 424,066.
Reports
These numbers defined the cases of children who are missing. This means that if a child has been missing or has run away several times, it will be counted in a year as a different case when entered in NCIC and would increase the number of cases accordingly. Meanwhile, if a case is closed, updated or withdrawn then the total number of cases would vary accordingly.
