The pharaoh was bowled over, and subsequently made sure that the newly freed slave would never leave his side, becoming his vizier, or a vital counselor.

Joseph was then committed to hoarding mammoth amounts of grain throughout the prophesized seven years of abundance. This was done so that upon the commencement of the seven year drought, the famine could be avoided. Thanks to Joseph’s mystical powers and prudent leadership, Egypt was able to survive the prolonged drought successfully.
