Curtis Mayfield – $10 million
Greatest Hits: People Get Ready
Curtis Mayfield would become part of The Impressions between the 1950s and 1960s, becoming equally committed to music and the civil rights movement. The Chicago-born gospel singer would eventually begin performing outside of church. He would then meet Jerry Butler and go on to form The Impressions. The band would supply the civil rights movement with plenty of anthems and inspiration. Mayfield would later dabble in cinema, becoming a director, with Super Fly being his most notable work.
