Urine – The Detergent
Romans had some weird thinkers who brought their ideas to fruition. Of course, they had an obsession with where hygiene was concerned, but their methods are questionable when you think about it. We understand their thinking and inventions are what inspired many of the hygenic practices today but, of course, with different products. We know they used urine as a mouthwash, but was that the only thing? No, it wasn’t!
Urine The Detergent
The early Romans also used urine as a source of detergent for washing their clothes. They sighted the stain removing elements as the reason for their choice. But where would they get enough fluid for washing? They usually store a large community container where people would go to ease themselves. It would then be collected and taken to where the bulk washing would be done. Geez…the smell must have been awful!
