Mercury to Treat Cold Sores
Cold sores are a thing many people suffer from, which are blisters that appear on the side of the mouth once in a while. The sores are caused by infections associated with the herpes simplex virus type 1 and are spread either through skin contact or saliva. Though there is no cure for the herpes virus, there are ways to get rid of the sores quickly and safely.
Unlike now, where there are multiple options to choose from to get rid of the problem, people in early times didn’t have access to any. As such, they resorted to using dangerous chemicals such as mercury that they thought would soothe and solve the problem. However, old doctors of the time warned about the dangerous and proved just how the chemical made matters worse.
Lead was Prevalent
We all know lead to be a heavy material that is dangerous for health and the environment at large. But, as mentioned earlier, women back in history usually use it as a make-up product that eventually led to damaging their skin. So, because they used it for “good,” they thought it would be great elsewhere, so they added it to their water sources. However, they later learned that it was a huge mistake for adding to the water they drank and bathed in.
For sure, lead is present in the atmosphere but not as heavy as in early times. As a result, no one would be too exposed to the harmful chemicals enough so that it would hurt them. If only persons worked directly with the products that contain it or work with it directly, they would get affected. As the body develops, the younger the person, the more risk they are at with getting hurt by the dangerous element.
