Hand-Written Receipts
Today, a cashier can easily ring you up, but in the past, receipts were still written by hand! Rather than putting each item through the scanner one at a time, a shop employee would manually account for everything. For many years, the majority of us have been used to being able to access all of our magazines, newspapers, bills, and books in digital format. Many have pointed out that this has had a negative impact on the paper sector.

Cash Only
Although cash-only establishments such as immigrant restaurants and certain tiny corner shops are now commonplace, they were formerly the norm for the majority of customers. Following that came the introduction of checks, and then the introduction of the world’s first plastic credit card in 1959. Prior to the invention of the credit card, or its historical counterpart, individuals had to save up and have the cash available in order to make a purchase of some kind. Money had to be in your possession or accessible in your bank account when you went shopping for food, petrol, clothes, and other items.
