As Christopher leaped out of the tunnel’s mouth, not for the first time, he expected to find himself drenched in filthy water as the flood exploded out of the mine’s entrance like a fountain. But there was nothing – the only liquid present was the sweat on Christopher’s brow. Had the water all been in his mind? Or was there some hidden pitfall that the water had poured into just before Christopher exited?

Christopher limped back to his home, sorely defeated, his body aching with all the exertion and extreme tension. His head was throbbing, and his nerves felt completely wrecked. It was clear that this situation was too much for one person to handle, and that he would need to get help from a professional. He couldn’t just pack up his things and leave, this was his home, and somehow, he had to clear it of danger.
