There was one particularly good reason why Christopher was so adamant on uncovering the truth behind this sudden fleeing from the mine. This was all his property now, and if there was something potentially destructive afoot there, he needed to deal with it quickly. He was sure that this project had been abandoned because of something to do with the precious metal’s presence, which could have turned into quite the terrifying truth.

Christopher’s previous mission into the earth had reached a limit of around 150 feet deep. This would just be an introduction to the underground system for the man, as this time he would go all the way down to where the truth lay waiting for him. Brushing the possibilities of injury, Christopher pushed on. He managed to pick his way through the tunnel unharmed, to where the body of water responsible for the mine’s sogginess pooled. There was also an enigmatic door facing him in that murky pool.
