Mr. Smith started his regular hike with Kyle just like any other adventure with his beloved German Shepherd. But Kyle soon started behaving strangely, seemingly obsessed by some scent nearby. The ex-police dog seemed anxious and desperate to find the source of whatever had pricked his senses so intensely. Smith decided that his dog was just acting up, with his service duties coming back after years of action. It must have just been some reflex that was kicking in, completely harmlessly.

But Kyle seemed so preoccupied with whatever had gotten him so worked up that Smith began to worry. This was an animal that had lived with two separate families before coming into the Smiths’ care. These families had only kept Kyle for a short period respectively as he was still involved with the force and had plenty of services left to fill out. It seemed like this furry detective was still not finished with his duties, however.
