Louis Moore Bacon made the first investment in Robins Island, which is located on Long Island, New York, with the intention of developing the area into a private retreat consisting of holiday cottages for his family. In addition to continuing to function in that capacity, it was transformed into a nature preserve in order to save the critically endangered animals that live in the area.
