In 1986, The Violent Femmes went their separate ways for some time. But the second cause of their disbanding would be far more troublesome: a two years-long legal battle. Brian Ritchie was enraged by Gordon Gano in 2007 after he pawned off the song rights to “Blister In The Sun” to a fast-food franchise, none other than Wendy’s! The pair’s legal battle would destroy the band, which would end things in 2009. Lawsuits are not exactly constructive, after all.

The band would not be able to carry on through this stormy relationship drama, and both romance and band practice would end around 2011.
