3. Bagels And Their Fillings
Bagels are easy to grab in the morning, and they hold fillings well, which makes them a common breakfast choice for busy people. But many bagels are made from refined white flour, which means they may not offer much fiber or long-lasting fullness. They can also be larger and heavier than regular slices of bread, so the portion can be more than people realize.

The filling matters too. Butter, cream cheese, and salty processed meats can add extra saturated fat and salt. A better option is to choose a whole grain bagel when possible and add something with protein, like eggs, smoked salmon, peanut butter, or a lighter cream cheese. Bagels can still be part of breakfast, but they work better when the filling is balanced.
