Collecting is an incredible pastime for millions of people around the world. There are so many different historical and sentimental sets that people will dedicate much of their earnings to. From old-school toys, to trading card sets, to old vinyl records, anyone can get into collecting at a drop of a hat. But how many of these collections are actually worth something? Sadly, most of these piles only mean something to the collector and their nostalgia. It is time to begin sorting between the junk and the gold, and sell off whatever doesn’t land in the worthy investment category.
Model Train Sets
Model train sets are a dime a dozen, and they are widely enjoyed by hobbyists around the world. You can easily sign up with a group that shares your enthusiasm, be it online or in physical clubs. Although there are some model train sets that are extremely valuable, the lion’s share of these pocket-sized locomotives will not earn you much money. Something like the Howard Gondola set might sell for $1,175 on a site like eBay, but this is a rarity among thousands of models that will only go for around $100, and that is if they are historical!
