Ann Hodges

This is, without a doubt, one of the most bizarre and unfortunate stories ever told. Even though she could be considered fortunate, she is currently in a very precarious situation. In 1954, Ann Hodges was dozing off on her couch when a meteorite crashed through her roof and into her house.

After ricocheting off her radio, the meteorite crashed through the roof and into her hip, inflicting serious injury. Where the meteorite had impacted her, she just had a little scrape and a few scratches. The majority of the time, these boulders just roll out into the ocean or into remote locations. Given all of this, it is absolutely incomprehensible that one was able to enter Hodges’ house and hit her directly!

Tomas Lopez

Sure, there are lifeguards on duty to save those who are drowning. Or so we believed. In the case of Tomas Lopez, however, this was not the truth. Tomas Lopez, a lifeguard at Hallandale Beach in South Florida, abandoned his post inside the permitted swimming area to help a person who was in danger of drowning. When Lopez saw a man struggling in the water, he sped out from the base to help him while the other guards stayed behind.

He took the person out of the water and waited with him until the nurses and emergency medical technicians came. After finishing the paperwork, he left his assigned area, which led to his termination from the company. It was said that he called 911 rather than taking any action since he was being paid to keep watch over that area. Lopez did not take the company up on its offer to be rehired and hence left the company. In all honesty, we would have done the same thing!
