Sigurd The Mighty
He was the second Viking Earl of Orkney and was also known as Sigurd the Mighty. His name was Sigurd Eysteinsson. He oversaw the administration of the islands that were located near Scotland. He was a strong and effective leader during his day. He was successful in his conquest of Northern Scotland and extended Viking power throughout as much of the rest of the kingdom as he could.

The bizarre circumstances surrounding Sigurd’s death are indicative of how unlucky he was. Following the tremendous victory that his people had achieved, the Bucktoothed head of the kingdom, Mael Brigte, ordered his troops to make him too ill to continue the battle. A significant victory may be commemorated in a variety of ways, however it is very unlucky to pass away soon after a victory.
