What Inspired The Project
Having found the wreckage of R-12 and returned to land, Taylor was inspired to start the Lost 52 Project as a result of his success in the search for its remnants. Not least among these tragedies was World War II’s disappearance of 52 submarines with no trace, which had a horrible toll on the human population. Throughout the war, a total of 3,505 submariners were either killed or went missing while serving aboard the submarines.
