In addition to Gloria Hurney, whose uncle Raymond Parks had served aboard the submarine in the capacity of electrician’s mate first class, the news that the Grayback’s remains had been discovered had a profound impact on many others. As she explained to ABC News in November of this year, there was a book that she read indicating that these ships are only known to God. However, now, they are glad to have discovered the whereabouts of the Grayback.

A Moving Tribute
One of those who perished onboard the Grayback is also a cousin of Kathy Taylor, since John Patrick King – who served as an electrician’s mate third class – was both her uncle and godfather when she was a child. And, in an interview with ABC News, she gave a heartfelt homage to the late soldier. She said she promised herself from the very beginning, from a little girl, that she was going to find him or follow him or keep his memory alive – whatever she could do.
