I’ve Got A Hankerin’

“Hankerin’” is a colorful word that has a variety of meanings. According to Eymonline, it is a way to convey how badly someone is craving something, or how much they are expecting something to happen. For example, a person that is incredibly hungry for Italian food might say, “I’ve got a hankerin’ for some pepperoni pizza”. Amazingly, the word itself has roots in the Dutch language, with the word “hunkeren”, as well as the Flemish one, “hankeren”. Both terms translate to “to long for something”.
