A well know fact about Nazi Germany is that one particular law decreed that all Jewish people had to register all assets and properties valued in excess of 5000 reich. This allowed the subsequent stealing of assets and looting that plagued the war.

Over half a million Jewish people registered as a part of this decree, and many of their jewelry was stolen in a bid to melt them down and to sell the gold.
