Tajikistan – Unibrows
If you were to walk about with a unibrow in most parts of the Western world, you would be derided or at the very least glanced at. This is due to the fact that going ungroomed in certain regions does not seem particularly attractive. However, this is not the case in every situation.
The unibrow is considered to be a symbol of attractiveness in Tajikistan, and this is true for both men and women. A little girl is so concerned with having one that she will fill it in with eyebrow pencil if she does not have one.
Africa – Stretched Earlobes
Most of the world agrees that a woman who has pierced ears and can don beautiful jewelry is very attractive. But there are some parts of the world where the practice of wearing heavy jewelry and stretching your earlobes out is considered beautiful.
According to Masai tradition, people deliberately grow their earlobes longer as they get older. Since large ears are considered to be a status symbol among the ladies of the tribe, everyone pays close attention to how long their own ears are as a result of this.
