The search team covered every possible track to include even the lake just in case he may have fallen in and drowned. They didn’t find him there. As the team was on foot going around, the helicopter was in the air doing their surveillance.

When the team left the lake, they went along the mountainsides to include some abandoned buildings that were located around the area. They assumed he might have stopped in one of those buildings to shelter from the cold, but he was not there, so they had to keep going.
