As the bag had been sealed shut when it went missing, most of the contents inside were able to remain intact, without corrosion from being exposed to the water. Astoundingly, the bag itself had merely faded slightly over time, and had survived nearly three decades at the bottom of a dark lake without any holes or being bitten by anything.
