After a closer look at the photograph with a woman staring back at the camera, Ben’s memory was eventually triggered beyond just realizing that this was someone he knew from his school days. He remembered that she was a friend of the family who had been close with one of his nephews, but he couldn’t recall having seen her for at least 10 years.

The Obvious Question
The obvious question was to worry whether something had happened to the woman, and how her bag had ended up at the end of the bottom of the lake. While not voicing this outright at the time, Ben later told reporters that he feared that she might have been the victim of a criminal act. This made him extra careful when handling the items, in case they were evidence in a bigger trial.
