Jeff’s excuse
Jeff continued in the same light tone: “You know how it is, one minute they’re laughing, the next they’re serious. Maybe it’s just early adolescence.” His nonchalance made me uneasy, and even though I nodded, I wasn’t convinced. Tim’s behavior seemed to go beyond a simple phase. The flowers served as a momentary distraction, but I promised myself to investigate further, even if Jeff’s logic sounded plausible.

Jeff’s Excuse
My instinct
Despite Jeff’s reassuring words, something didn’t add up. My instinct screamed that there was more to it than he was letting on. I couldn’t just put it down to a childish mood. Tim’s request echoed inside me, keeping me on my toes. As much as I wanted to believe it was just a passing tantrum, doubt was eating away at me, forcing me to look for answers.
