Deep worries begin
The conversation with Mrs. Parker opened my eyes; it was clear that there was something else going on. I thought about Tim’s distraction and how his friends were keeping their distance, and those thoughts wouldn’t leave me. I began to really worry. I realized that perhaps Tim’s problems went deeper than his falling grades or his difficulties on the playground. We needed to reach him somehow. That night, I lay awake trying to figure out what to do next.

Deep Concerns Begin
Plans for movie night
When I got home, I hatched a plan: a comforting movie night. “Tim, how about a superhero movie marathon?” I suggested, hoping to see any sign of interest in his eyes. Jeff agreed and threw himself on the sofa with a huge bowl of popcorn. We darkened the living room, pressed play and settled in, hoping for a quiet evening dedicated to Tim’s favorite movies, to try to revive his childlike joy.
