The Building Had No Door
At first, James thought it might be some kind of private cabin or storage building. But the closer he looked, the less sense it made. The structure was shaped like a large two-story block, yet it had none of the features a normal building should have. He walked around the entire outside twice, running his hand along the cold stone walls. There was no front door, no side door, no back entrance, and no windows on the lower level.

The only opening was high on the second floor: a wide rectangular gap sealed with thick iron bars. Even from below, it looked too secure for an ordinary home. James stood in the clearing and stared up at it, confused. Why would someone build such a clean, expensive-looking stone structure in the middle of the woods and then make it almost impossible to enter? The question bothered him enough that he decided to find a way to look inside.
