We are so accustomed to having white teeth that we would go to any lengths to get them to make the perfect smiles. There are so many treatment options you can choose from to include products that improve the quality and look of your teeth. However, many medical experts say teeth should not be so white though most people disagree with this claim. But as you can imagine, the obsession with teeth during the early days was just as popular as it is now.

However, the focus on teeth being white was not as much, and it wasn’t considered the basis for beauty. In the past, Asian countries saw lacquering teeth as the craze. The process was a practice known as “ohaguro,” where teeth were tinted to be completely black. The practice is traced back to about 200 CE. Multiple chemicals were used to combine the paste, which they would add to their teeth, and within a week, that perfect smile would be great. Japan seized the move in 1870.
