The character of Chelsea Melini was one of the more prominent secondary roles in the show. At first essentially a guest appearance, the character was a hit and was developed into Charlie’s first emotional relationship. Charlie notably confessed his feelings to Chelsea, however, the relationship was doomed by his continued questionable behavior. The character also served as a catalyst for a writing style of the implication of chauvinism over actual on-screen representation.
