A sign of social progress thematic to the now outmoded stories told throughout Two and a Half Men, the relationship between Sheen’s character and ‘Mia’ speaks a narration language that would come under enormous scrutiny if portrayed in 2020. Sheen sets his sights on the attractive Mia, concocting a contrived plan to bed her by having his nephew, Jake, take dancing lessons in her class. Speaking only further to a chauvinistic undertone Charlie gives in to a list of trivial demands to woe her. The relationship ends when he is inevitably and characteristically caught lying to her. There is some degree of vindication to this otherwise boorish sub-plot, and that is in the portrayal of Mia. Her character remains strong, independent, and decisive in her personal sense of morality.
