Ming-Na Wen as Linda Harris | Then
Ming-Na Wen is renowned for bringing a certain strength of character to any role she plays. This brought depth to the otherwise stock character of Linda Harris. A stereotype of Hollywood’s portrayal of female independence, Wen’s character would have fallen flat if not for the actor’s nuanced delivery. Linda and Charlie meet when Alan coerces Charlie into joining him on a double date. As surprising as snow on Christmas day, Charlie finds Linda attractive and is shot down, probably because the plot demands it. The relationship ends because of Charlie’s behavior, another of the show’s thematic constants. The onscreen chemistry between Linda and Charlie was perhaps one of the positives of this subplot.
