Humans living in those early days had a lot of dangerous predators, and so they needed a form of protection. Thus, they had to find a way to keep themselves and those around them safe. The spiked mace of the glyptodon tails made a great weapon, especially for hunters. They used the bones as tools seeing they were heavy and strong. Also, managing to hunt and capture a glyptodon gave you lots of credits seeing how big and powerful they were. So, if you ask us, they served humans a lot of purposes in those days.
