Being Careful
The shells were pretty heavy, weighing about 1000 lbs each. That means they were huge and needed to be handled with extra care. The researchers were truly amazed by this feature. One of the field paleontologists, Ricardo Bonini, said discovering the animals in a group who had died together in just about the same circumstances would present them with a lot of information they have been searching for, for years. Bonini also noted they would get the opportunity to conduct the necessary tests they want to conclude their research.
Unique Features
Seeing there were four fossils in the one location, the researchers assumed they belonged to one family. If this turns out to be true, we can just imagine how excited this would be for the team. They had never in their lives discovered an entire family of this nature, so this would spike their discovery interest. Also, this revelation would make it possible for them to reveal a new species of the glyptodon.
