To her credit, Elizabeth’s choices worked in her favor. The incredibly popular leader would later be known as “Gloriana”, and her defeat of the Spanish Armada would win her immense favor and respect. Despite her aesthetic obsessions and efforts, Elizabeth would be remembered as one of the most successful leaders in England. To this day, few members of the British royalty are held in as high an esteem as Elizabeth I. She was incredibly ahead of her time, too.
