In the meantime, John had dashed out of his police station to begin making his way to the countryside. As he got onto the freeway out of the city, his heart began to ache as he remembered how painful it had been to part ways with his old partner. He felt miserably guilty that he had not had a chance to visit his old best friend with how hectic his work had been, and the journey took hours longer than John had previously anticipated. As John finally pulled into the Smiths’ property, the pain of regret nearly overwhelmed him.

As John pulled into the Smiths’ driveway, he could not help but feel ashamed for feeling like he had abandoned his partner and best buddy. All those nostalgic memories of their experiences on the beat together washed over him. He was assured that this would be a joyful reunion, however, as excitement began to fill his heart at the prospect of seeing Kyle again after so long. But would Kyle be happy to see him after so long?
