Strangely Placed
Mark and David immediately realized that this boulder’s positioning was completely bizarre. Why on Earth would someone build a path that led straight into this huge rocky obstacle? Surely the more logical way would be around the huge thing.

Strangely Placed
The boulder hadn’t rolled into place after the path had been built, as the wooden slats seemed to have been placed deliberately around the boulder. Perhaps this was some historically or culturally significant object? The men had to admit that it was a splendid feature. The sparkling blues and deep browns of the stone gave Mark an idea. Perhaps he was better off leaving the thing alone, but he was inspired.
Sparkly Wonder
Each fragment of this boulder could be worn as a sensational necklace or bracelet. It was only natural human curiosity, and maybe a bit of greed. Mark didn’t want to damage the huge rock, only take a piece as a memento.

Sparkly Wonder
A particularly pokey part seemed like it could be easily broken off, stashed in Mark’s pocket, and then they could be on their merry way. The amateur geologist bent over, his fingers lightly brushing against the cool material, and then the rock moved.
