James gave the bubbling little hill a prod with his toes and was horrified to see it wobble. He leaped backward in horror, and his wife automatically did the same. They continued gazing mutely at the living earth for a few more minutes.

Eventually, the ground settled and James gave the disturbed spot another kick. It trembled like jelly for a few seconds before setting again. Then James attempted something that he would rather reflect on as being rather silly.
